Book Review : Something Blue

Hello again , this is the review for the squeal to something borrowed ; Something Blue
If you haven't read something borrowed yet stop reading this now because there isn't anyway I can explain what Something Blue is about without telling you the ending to something borrowed. I will try to not divulge much about the first book.
This is the Cover:

This book is from Darcy's point of view which was interesting for me because I heard about her obviously from something borrowed but we never knew much about her other than Rachel's observations and opinons so it was nice to see how she sees herself and the rest of the world. She desperately moves to London to live Ethan after her relationship with Marcus - the father of her unborn child- falls through and all of her friendships disapear because of her obsession with Dex and Rachel's relationship. Soon after she moves to London she realizes that she needs to be less self obsessed to become a better mother to her child , she then meets Geoffrey who is her doctor and tells her that she isn't having the one daughter she wanted but she is having two twin boys. She later starts dating him but they soon break up. with a lot of other things happening this book is filled with drama and somebody trying to be a better person for her child while Darcy starts out as a spoilt PR woman who lives her life going out parting and looking good to her friends , she reforms herself and becomes a generous person who learns to love another more than herself , in her twin boys and her msytery man , I loved reading this book because i found it interesting to figure out the whole thing from the first book from Darcy's point of view as she was having an affair as well, also it was good to really see how vain and self centered she was before she reformed herself.

Book Review : Something Borrowed

Hello , here's another book review from me , I just finished reading the sequel to this book and I thought i should do this book review first then do the second one next.
Anyway I will start this review now , this is the book cover:

This book was about an intelligent thirty year old Lawyer -Rachel- who's Best friend -Darcy- has just got engaged to Rachel's law school friend , Dex. On the night of Rachel's 30th Birthday Darcy throws her a huge party but goes home early leaving Dex and Rachel alone , which starts on innocently but leads into them going back to Rachel's apartment and sleeping together behind Darcy's back. this starts their full fledged affair which carries on through the rest of the summer. They start being more than just an affair as they fall in love with each other and Dex Decides to come clean to Darcy right at the end of the book and Darcy has a shocking secret.

This Book shows what real female friendships are about even the best of friends have competition between them it also show's that even in the hardest of situations true love always conquers all. It is a tale of true love and betrayal to even the best of friends and I personally love the realism in this book. I love how Rachel and Darcy are pretty much the opposite of each other as Darcy is Vain and dumb who cares more about social status than love and Rachel is a dreamer who is insecure and intelligent.
This book is good for most types of people and I would read it personally!

Like All Nicolas Sparks' books it leaves you wishing for a guy as loyal as Dawson and is such an individual story of true love!
Anyone who loves romance should definatly buy this book or at least read it.

Book Review : The Lucky One.

Hello , I haven't reviewed a book in a while because I've been working on my writing instead of my reading because if I want to be a writer I have to practice my writing which is going really well and i have some good research and ideas!

Anyway to the real reason of the blog entry to review another truly heartwarming novel by Nicolas Sparks who is a reason why I want to be a writer so I obviously love his books otherwise He wouldn't be my inspiration to do what I want to with my life anyway.. going off topic again sorry.
This is the cover of the Lucky one

The Book is called 'The Lucky One' and is a romance novel like most of Sparks' books and it completely lives up to the name of romance novels being and compelling story with amazing characters that draw you into the story and make you feel like they are your oldest friends that are telling you about their life.
Just in case you haven't heard of it and want to know what it is about I will write a short synopsis about it here:
It starts of with a freaky guy who is speaking about how he is a police officer and is spying on college girls who are trying to tan naked ( this is what made him really freaky and is a very important thing to remember ) A hiker walks by and catches him and steals his camera that he was using to take pictures of the girls he gives the camera to the girls while he gets a ride with them , we eventually find out that the hikers name is Logan Thibault and he has Trekked across half of the country with his dog , he is a marine from Iraq and while he was in Iraq he found a picture of a blonde girl who was in her twenties shortly after he was almost killed and his friend was convinced that She was his lucky charm and after a few other near death experiences and easy winnings in poker he starts to believe in it too and after his friend was killed by a ore that should have hit him he becomes convinced that his story with the girl in the picture isn't over and he indirectly owes her his life , he decides to track her down using small details from the photo to find out where she is and where she might be at the moment , he eventually tracks her down but nothing goes to plan when he plans to just tell her about the photo and ends up taking a job at her family's dog training place and unintentionaly falls in love with her and she falls in love with him to and he also has a strong relationship with her son and helps her to overcome her ex husbands control over her life , but what happens when she finds out about the photo ? Will it all come tumbling down ?
T   This story to me shows that anythings possible if you put your best effort into it , it shows that being in a war changes even the strongest of people and sometimes things are meant to be and nothing is just a coincidence I love the charecters in this story and the storyline is so different to anyother book I have read , I really would recemend reading this book and all of nicolas spark's other books to

If you do plan to read this book i would highly recemend doing it before the new film comes out in april because the books are allways better than the film!

Book Review : A Secret in the Family

Hello , I just finished reading A Secret in the Family which is by Lyn Andrews.
This is the Book's Cover:

I'm Assuming some people won't have heard of this book because it hasn't been made into a film which is how most people hear about books so I'll give you a run through of the story line. It's set in Liverpool in the 1960's and Dee Campbell and Jean Williams have just finished secondary school. Jean has set her heart on being a hairdresser much to her mother's (Ada) distress. Dee is the more sensible one of the two and is planning on trying to find some office work in Liverpool which is much more easy to come by. At the start of the book they both live on the roughest side of Liverpool and their parents have been hoping to be rehoused for years which they eventually do get rehoused into the countryside on the edge of Liverpool and are extremely happy there. After they move Jeans Father (Harry) has a stroke of luck when he wins the Irish Sweepstakes and him and Ada decide to help Jean with her career by helping her to set up her own business. Everything seems to be Going well for both Girls as they meet steady boyfriends and over the next few years they both get engaged and remain the best of friends but what happens when disaster strikes for Dee will friendship really last through everything?
Overall I thought this book wasn't very good when I first started reading it , this was mostly because I've read other Lyn Andrews books and the starts of the books are very similar but after reading the first hundred pages there became a massive twist and one that i didn't expect there to be in this book. It's a story of true friendship and shows that no matter how much you plan life never works out as you thought it would. I think if you are going to read this book it is best to not read any other books that Lyn Andrews has written and read it when you have a lot of time on your hands because it is a tiny bit long winded but it is in itself a good book and I'm not saying that you shouldn't read it you just need to have a lot of time to read it all because you shouldn't read it a little at a time.
Hope that if you read this Book you enjoy it.

Book Review : The Notebook

Hello , this time I am going to review The Notebook by Nicolas sparks. I read this  book quite a long time ago so if I forget some details from the book but i doubt that i will because it is one of my all time favourite books. I personally love Nicolas Sparks' books and have read most of them apart from his newest one which I am looking forward to reading.
anyway this is the cover of 'The Notebook'.

If you haven't heard of the book or even seen the film which I think is most unlikely because most people deem that Film a classic romance film this is what it is about. It Starts out as an old man reading to a woman who is in a home for Alzheimer disease. He starts reading the story of two young people called Noah and Allie who met and dated for one summer and fell in love but who were later torn apart by Allies parents hatred for him as they thought she was too good for him. It then skips 14 years ahead where Allie is engaged to another man and Noah has come home from WW2 and started restoring a house in New Bern (the house that he took Allie 14 years ago on the night they first made love). Allie sees an article in the newspaper about the house and is immediately shocked and decides that to have closure from her love for Noah which still burns on inside of her. She travels to New Bern and seeing each other triggers the emotions and memories of that summer for both Allie and Noah. She thought that he hadn't written to her after the one summer they spent together as he had promised but soon realises that her mother had hidden them from her. After spending the weekend with each other they rekindle their romance but later Allies mother shows up and gives Allie the letters but tells her she needs to choose her fiancĂ©e or Noah. This is an incredibly difficult choice for Allie as she loves Noah but doesn't want to Hurt Lon.
I won't keep typing because i know if i do I'll tell you the end and if any of you are thinking of reading it , I don't want to ruin it for you. I think this book is possibly the Greatest romance novel ever written up to this point and is a amazingly romantic story. Anybody that loves Romance will adore this book and reread it over and over ( i know i have ) because it is 100% the type of book that you can't just read once. My favourite quote of this book is one i am defiantly going to recommend you to read even if is the only part you read is page 204-209 because it is the most romantic piece of writing I have ever read and makes me cry every time.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.

First Book Review : The Help

Hello , and welcome ( if of course anyone is reading this ) to Summer's Book Reviews this is my first book review so sorry if its not very good but ah well might get a few people to read the book.
The book is called ' The Help ' and is by Kathryn Stockett.
Here is a photo of the cover although I sincerely hope you do not judge books by covers.
For Anybody who hasn't heard of the book it is about African-American Maids working in white Households in 1960's Mississippi and is written in the perspective of  the lives of two of the maids ; Ablieen and Minny. And a white woman (Skeeter )who is looking for answers of where her family's maid disappeared to and what happened to her. Ablieen is working for Skeeter's Friend Elizabeth when they meet and they start an unlikely friendship when Skeeter comes to Ablieen about writing a book about the lives of the maids in mississippi Ablieen at first thinks Skeeter to be naive but later realises that something needs to change about the way white people think about the Black in Mississippi and joins Skeeter in writing the book , and helps her get the other maids involved to also share their story. To say this story is Inspiring is a massive understatement but I can't think of many other words that could describe it. Allthough this Subject is a very serious one Stockett manages to make the book mostly carefree and heartwarming and also very funny and witty at certain part. She makes the charecters seem very real and by the end I felt like i knew them myself and would know they would react to any situation. there is also some very scary serious bits but i won't give too much away for those of you who want to read it yourselves and don't want the entire book spilled to you before you read it.
I hope anyone who reads this Review will read this book because i ensure you you won't be disappointed with it , it will leave you feel like change is even possible in the most impossible of situations and anyone can change the world.
Thank you for reading this review and if anybody wants another review on a certain book just ask and i will read and review it.

Love ,
